Thin, light and translucent Amakusa pottery
The best words for this craft have to be “simple” and “elegant”. It is made from the hands of Hasami craftsmen, in the Hasami town in Nagasaki. Since the Momoyama period (1568 – 1600), this place has been well known for its porcelain. These porcelain materials are special, fired from Amakusa pottery stone at a high temperature of about 1300℃, producing a thin, translucent colour. With a high thermal insulation effect, this material keeps the temperature and taste constant when brewing. The three-hole design, with its unique ribs, enables a quicker flow and reduces excessive extraction. This dripper enhances the nutty, cocoa, sweet and floral aroma in coffee.

"A retro and elegant work".
Hasami Ware could be described as a beautiful homestyle pottery. In the old days (1603-1868), since Hasami Ware was something durable and economically affordable for most people, it was mainly used as an eating utensil in everyday life.
Hasami Ware is mainly made of Amakusa Stone 天草石, a sticky material that is capable of producing a refined and light-transmitting white pottery, with a smooth and aesthetic surface.
Nowadays, you can see Hasami Ware in almost every Japanese family's home. The Japanese love Hasami Ware!
