Rare Variety and Superior Flavour

Kiwi, Hibiscus, Rootbeer

This is an exceptional coffee from the rare Caturrón variety, a unique mutation of Caturra, exclusive to Colombia. Even within the country, Caturrón is scarce and challenging to cultivate. Luis Anibal, a seasoned second-generation farmer with over 40 years of experience, chose to plant Caturrón as his main variety due to its remarkable resistance to leaf rust, high yield, and superior flavour profile.

It is proud to feature Luis Anibal’s coffee again, celebrated for its bold and innovative flavours. Despite his long tenure in the coffee industry, Luis's journey has been far from easy.

In 2011, facing the threat of losing his farm to bank debts, Luis primarily sold his coffee to retailers at prices that barely covered his production costs. Desperate for a solution, he turned to the Specialty Coffee Association, which offered to pay 15% above the regular price. Although this still did not fully compensate for the extra effort required for specialty coffee production, it provided crucial support for Luis. This support encouraged him to delve deeper into the specialty coffee sector.

More than a decade later, you can savour the fruits of his perseverance, innovation in planting new varieties, and experimental processing methods. Experience the exceptional quality and distinctive flavours that define Luis Anibal’s coffee from Villa Betulia.
