Run by the Gutiérrez family, Finca Monteverde consistently wins Colombia’s annual Cup of Excellence, showcasing their impeccable growing and processing methods.
Johan Gutiérrez, a fifth-generation coffee grower, established a processing center in La Esmeralda in 2018. His goal was to offer better prices to local producers by sourcing coffee cherries and implementing rigorous fermentation protocols, resulting in larger, consistently high-quality batches. This initiative also aims to raise international recognition for the region's exceptional coffee.
Processing
The process begins with the oxidation phase, where the cherries are left for 24 hours in an open system with controlled temperatures. Afterward, the cherries are pulped, and the seeds undergo a 24-hour stage with various food-grade acids. Following this, the seeds are washed and the drying process begins.
Initially, the coffee is dried under a canopy for 7 days, and then transferred to a mechanical silo for an additional 3-5 days. Throughout this phase, temperatures are kept below 40°C, with the coffee resting at night.

Brew Guide
We highly recommend trying this coffee with the Flower Dripper, using either Abaca Paper or Medium Dark Roast Paper Filter, to fully explore its unique flavour spectrum.
- Coffee: 15 grams (medium coarse, K-Ultra: 8.5°; J-Ultra: 300°)
- Water: 250 grams (90°C)
- Brewing Ratio: 1:16.6
- Rinse the filter thoroughly with hot water.
- Start the timer and gently pour 30 grams of water over 30 seconds.
- At 30 seconds, pour in a circular motion until you reach 100 grams.
- At 1:00, continue pouring until you reach 150 grams.
- At 1:25, pour until you reach 200 grams.
- At 1:50, gently pour in a circular motion until 250 grams, avoiding any agitation.
The total brewing duration should be between 2:30 and 2:40 minutes.

Returns
Within the EU, you can return any order* within 14 days (14-day cooling-off period) without providing a reason, and you will receive a full refund, inclusive of the shipping cost to an EU destination.
Beyond the initial 14 days, you may typically request a partial or potentially full refund. Our return policy spans 30 days, accounting for holidays. Please note that shipping costs will not be refunded in such cases after 14-day cooling-off period.
If 30 days have passed since your purchase, regrettably, we cannot offer a refund or exchange.
*To be eligible for a return, the item must be unused and in the same condition as received, including its original packaging.
The seller will cover the cost of return postage only if the item is damaged, faulty, or doesn't match the listing description.
For other reasons, the buyer is responsible for returning the product at their expense.
