A New Expression of Matcha
A modern matcha bowl that lets the movement of the chasen, the colour of the tea, and the act of pouring become part of the experience.
The Glass Katakuchi Matcha Bowl was developed by stepping away from the traditional idea that matcha tools must be made from ceramic.
Created as part of ORIGAMI Tea, it reconsiders matcha from the choice of material itself. Instead of giving the vessel a strong material presence, the glass form feels cleaner, lighter, and more neutral. It blends naturally into different spaces, from home kitchens to café counters, while allowing the matcha itself to remain the focus.

From Whisking to Pouring
The bowl features a carefully shaped katakuchi spout, designed to connect the actions of whisking, pouring, and serving in one smooth motion.
The spout helps reduce dripping and allows the matcha to be poured cleanly until the final drop. This makes it especially practical for preparing matcha lattes, iced matcha drinks, and other arrangements where matcha is whisked first and then poured into another vessel.

Double-Wall Glass Structure
The double-wall structure helps retain heat while preventing the exterior from becoming too hot to hold comfortably. It also reduces condensation, keeping the surrounding area cleaner during use.
Inside the glass, the air layer creates a floating visual effect, making the green of the matcha appear suspended within the bowl. This gives the preparation process a lighter and more contemporary impression.
The Beauty of the Whisking Process
Because the bowl is made of glass, the movement of the chasen and the process of the matcha mixing can be seen clearly.
The act of whisking becomes part of the presentation before serving — something that cannot be experienced in the same way with ceramic bowls. It brings a visual rhythm to matcha preparation, making the moment before drinking feel just as considered as the drink itself.
Modern, Open, and Functional
While respecting traditional matcha practice, the Glass Katakuchi Matcha Bowl offers a more open and contemporary way to prepare and serve matcha.
Its size is comfortable to hold, and despite the durable thickness of the glass, it feels lighter than it appears. The design balances practical function with a quiet visual beauty, making it suitable for both daily use and more intentional presentation.
