Designed to hold warmth, deepen flavour, and bring calm weight to every sip.

Fukami(深み/深度) speaks of depth — the quiet richness, warmth, and rounded strength that unfold slowly in tea.

A Cup Designed Around the Character of Tea

Different teas reveal themselves through different brewing temperatures, aromas, textures, and finishes. The shape of the cup plays an important role in how these qualities are experienced.

The Tone Cup [Fukami / 深み] is part of the ORIGAMI Tea series, created to bring out the delicate individuality of tea through form. Rather than serving only as a vessel, the Tone Cup is designed to support how warmth is held, how flavour develops, and how the tea feels in the hand and on the palate.

Fukami — The Beauty of Depth

In Japanese, Fukami(深み) refers to depth, richness, or a sense of layered complexity. In tea, it suggests a flavour that is not only strong, but calm, rounded, and quietly full.

This Tone Cup is designed for teas where warmth, body, and depth are central to the experience. It allows the drinker to move slowly through the cup, feeling the tea’s structure and richness develop over time.

A Shape for Warmth and Deeper Flavour

The Fukami cup has a slightly thicker form and a moderately narrowed opening. This structure helps retain the heat of the tea, allowing warmth to continue gently as you drink.

On the palate, the impression is soft but grounded. The cup supports teas with deeper flavour, helping their body, richness, and outline come through clearly without feeling harsh or heavy.

This makes it especially suitable for teas brewed at higher temperatures, such as hojicha, genmaicha, and other teas where roasted aroma, warmth, and depth are important.

Calm, Stable, and Comforting

The Fukami cup carries a sense of quiet stability. Its form feels more enclosed and substantial than the more open Kaori cup, giving the tea a warmer and more settled expression.

As you drink slowly, the flavour opens in a deeper and calmer way. It is a cup for moments when tea is not only refreshing, but grounding — something that gently brings the body and mind back into balance.

Pairing with ORIGAMI Tea Ware

The Tone Cup series is designed to pair naturally with ORIGAMI tea ware. Together with an ORIGAMI kyusu, the Fukami cup is especially well suited for teas brewed at moderate temperatures, where aroma and freshness are central to the experience.

By choosing a cup according to the character of the tea, each serving becomes more intentional — not only in taste, but also in atmosphere.
