Saemidori from Yame — Elegant, Vivid and Exceptionally Smooth

A Top Ceremonial Grade, First-Harvest Single Cultivar Matcha from Fukuoka

Grown in Yame, Fukuoka, this Top Ceremonial Grade Matcha is made exclusively from Saemidori, offering an elegant expression of vivid colour, gentle sweetness, soft umami and an exceptionally smooth mouthfeel.

Harvested during the first flush of 2026, the tea plants are shaded for approximately 2–3 weeks before harvest. The result is a beautifully vivid green matcha with an elegant aroma, remarkably low astringency and a clean, refreshing finish.

On the palate, it is refined and graceful rather than aggressively intense: smooth from the first sip, gently sweet through the middle, with delicate umami and a fresh, polished finish.

Why Yame Saemidori?
  1. Top Ceremonial Grade: Selected for pure matcha preparation, with the refinement, smoothness and balance suited to traditional ceremonial drinking.
  2. Single Cultivar Saemidori: Made entirely from Saemidori rather than a blend, allowing the elegant character of the cultivar to be expressed clearly in the bowl.
  3. 2026 First Harvest: Produced from the season’s first harvest, with a delicate balance of aroma, sweetness, umami and texture.
  4. 2–3 Weeks of Shading: The tea plants are shaded before harvest, helping develop its vivid green colour, gentle umami and low astringency.
  5. Fine Bead-Mill Grinding: The tencha is finely ground using a bead mill, creating a smooth powder and refined texture in the bowl.

Made for the Pure Bowl

This is a matcha made to be appreciated with water. Its elegant aroma, natural sweetness and silky texture can be enjoyed without being masked by other ingredients.

Its low astringency and clean finish make it beautifully suited to usucha, while its depth, smoothness and gentle umami also make it suitable for koicha.

For those exploring matcha beyond lattes, Yame Saemidori offers a refined expression of Japanese matcha: vivid and expressive, yet gentle, polished and refreshingly clean.
