This tote bag symbolizes the purpose behind founding Kohiraifu (Coffee Life, katakana in Japanese). It's often said that every person dreams of opening their own café, and our story began with that very dream.
In 2018, we stumbled upon a Japanese food show featuring a Kissaten in Tokyo, Chatei Hatou. The barista’s exquisite coffee brewing process captivated us. At Chatei Hatou, the bond between customers and the owner was forged through a shared passion for coffee. This connection deeply inspired us, and since then, the art of drip coffee has lingered in our minds.
In the midst of our busy lives, we often forget the essence of existence—our dreams, our zest for life, even the act of breathing. I hope that envisioning this imagined "Kohiraifu" Kissaten rekindles your love for coffee, for yourself, and for the world. Let this tote bag carry our grand dream: that one day, we will meet in a Kissaten in the Netherlands, leave our bicycles at the door, savor coffee and ice cream together, and sit on the rooftop, overlooking the beautiful cityscape.
What is Kissaten?
Kissaten, the quintessential Japanese coffeehouses of the Shōwa era (1926-1989), encapsulate a nostalgic blend of tradition and modernity. These intimate sanctuaries, adorned with wooden furniture, dim lighting, and vintage décor, offered meticulously brewed coffee and homemade delicacies, creating a cozy escape from the fast-paced life outside. Serving as cultural hubs, kissaten attracted a diverse clientele—writers, artists, and intellectuals—fostering a vibrant community through music, literature, and spontaneous performances. Though fewer in number today, their enduring legacy continues to inspire contemporary cafés that cherish quality, ambiance, and a sense of connection.

Please note that our shipping days are limited to Monday through Friday, excluding holidays which fall on Saturday and Sunday.
For orders placed outside of the European Union, the prices listed are exclusive of VAT. Returns
Within the EU, you can return any order* within 14 days (14-day cooling-off period) without providing a reason, and you will receive a full refund, inclusive of the shipping cost to an EU destination.
Beyond the initial 14 days, you may typically request a partial or potentially full refund. Our return policy spans 30 days, accounting for holidays. Please note that shipping costs will not be refunded in such cases after 14-day cooling-off period.
If 30 days have passed since your purchase, regrettably, we cannot offer a refund or exchange.
*To be eligible for a return, the item must be unused and in the same condition as received, including its original packaging.
The seller will cover the cost of return postage only if the item is damaged, faulty, or doesn't match the listing description.
For other reasons, the buyer is responsible for returning the product at their expense.
Kindly note that certain goods, such as perishable items like food and coffee beans, are exempt from return.
