A limited ORIGAMI porcelain dripper inspired by Kiso lacquerware and the quiet beauty of Japanese wabi-sabi.

Sabi translates the warm, layered character of traditional lacquer preparation into porcelain — combining a softly speckled cream base with an amber-toned reactive glaze, giving every piece its own subtle expression.
A Special Colour Created for ORIGAMI × Maruyoshi Kosaka
The ORIGAMI Dripper S [sabi] was created to mark the third chapter of the ORIGAMI with Makers Project, centred on the meeting of ORIGAMI and the tradition of Kiso lacquerware.
This chapter was developed in collaboration with Maruyoshi Kosaka, a lacquerware workshop founded in 1945 in Kiso-Hirasawa, Nagano Prefecture. Through the project, ORIGAMI brings traditional Japanese materials and craft knowledge into a contemporary coffee setting.

Rather than applying lacquer directly to the dripper, the Sabi colourway was developed by Koyo Toki, ORIGAMI’s porcelain manufacturer, to express the visual depth and warmth of lacquerware through ceramic glaze.
Inspired by Sabi-tsuchi and Clear Amber Lacquer
The colour takes its inspiration from sabi-tsuchi(錆土), an iron-rich clay preparation traditionally used as a base coat in Kiso lacquerware.
A soft cream-coloured base recalls the natural tone of sabi-tsuchi. Over this surface, an amber-toned glaze inspired by suki-urushi(透漆) — a translucent form of lacquer — is carefully sprayed.
Fine iron specks bring warmth and texture to the base, while the organic lustre of the glaze gives the dripper a calm, refined presence. The result is understated rather than decorative: earthy, balanced and quietly expressive.
Each Piece Has Its Own Expression
A reactive glaze is used to create the Sabi finish. As the glaze moves and changes during firing, variations in colour, gradation, gloss and texture naturally appear.
No two pieces will look exactly alike. These differences are part of the character of the product, reflecting the Japanese appreciation of natural variation, imperfection and the passage of time.
Due to the nature of porcelain production, fine surface irregularities or small pinholes may also be present. These are normal characteristics of the ceramic and are not considered defects.
Classic ORIGAMI Brewing Performance
Although Sabi has a distinctive finish, it retains the familiar brewing performance of the classic ORIGAMI Dripper S.
Its 20 precisely formed ribs create air channels between the paper filter and the dripper wall, supporting smooth drainage and giving the brewer freedom to control flow rate and extraction.
The dripper is compatible with both conical and wave-style paper filters. A conical filter creates a deeper coffee bed and can emphasise clarity and flavour definition, while a wave-style filter creates a flatter bed that can support a more even extraction and rounder cup profile.
Holder Recommended
A compatible ORIGAMI dripper holder is recommended for stable brewing and is sold separately.
The restrained cream, amber and earthy tones of Sabi pair especially well with natural wood, dark lacquer, glass servers and other quietly textured materials.
