Inspired by the world of wine, the TOS Aroma Carafe transforms brewed coffee into a more aromatic and memorable sensory experience.

A Collaboration Between Tetsu Kasuya, SIBARIST, and ORIGAMI

The TOS Aroma Carafe designed by SIBARIST is a collaborative product created by Tetsu Kasuya, SIBARIST, and ORIGAMI.

The original idea was proposed and tested by Tetsu Kasuya, World Brewers Cup 2016 Champion. The concept and design were developed by SIBARIST, the Barcelona-based coffee equipment brand, while ORIGAMI brought the product to life through Japanese manufacturing.

The project began from a simple but thoughtful idea: instead of changing the liquid during brewing, could a tool influence the coffee after extraction and make it easier for anyone to enjoy a more expressive cup? Drawing inspiration from wine aerators and decanters, the TOS Aroma Carafe was designed to enrich the moment of serving and tasting.

Designed to Hold, Focus, and Release Aroma

The form of the carafe is created around aroma expression. Its broad lower body makes it easy to swirl the coffee gently, while the narrowed opening helps retain volatile aromatic compounds.

As the coffee is poured, swirled, and served, the aroma is first held inside the vessel, then gathered toward the opening, and finally released when drinking or serving. This creates a fuller sensory impression without requiring a complicated brewing technique.

A Minimal, Handleless Porcelain Form

The carafe has a symbolic, minimal silhouette with an intuitive handleless shape. Its form feels closer to a tasting vessel or wine decanter than a conventional coffee server, giving it a distinct presence on the brew bar or table.

Although the porcelain body itself is handleless, the carafe is supplied with a dedicated leather handle. Since the body may become hot after brewing, the handle is intended to support safer and more comfortable use.

Handmade in Japan

Both the porcelain carafe and leather handle are made in Japan and carefully finished by hand. The porcelain body may show slight surface irregularities, small pinholes, glaze variation, or individual differences caused by the ceramic production process. These are natural characteristics of the material and handmade manufacturing, not defects.

In rare cases, a small raised point may appear on the inner base of the carafe. This can occur during the slip-casting production process, when excess clay gathers at the rounded base as the mould is reversed for draining. It does not affect the quality or function of the product.

Care of Use

  • Wash and dry the carafe as soon as possible after use to reduce coffee aroma retention and staining.
  • Clean gently with warm water, a small amount of neutral detergent, and a bottle brush.
  • Because of the narrow opening, a wine decanter brush is recommended.
  • Rinse thoroughly and dry upside down after washing.
  • If coffee stains appear, soak with warm water and one teaspoon of baking soda for 20–30 minutes, then brush and rinse well.
  • Avoid metal scrubbers, abrasive sponges, and harsh cleaning agents, as they may scratch the surface.
  • Avoid sudden temperature changes, as they may cause damage.
  • The porcelain body may become hot after brewing. Use the included leather handle for safer handling.
  • If the leather handle becomes wet, dry it thoroughly.
  • Regular oil care can help maintain and deepen the character of the leather over time.

    Within the EU, you can return any order* within 14 days (14-day cooling-off period) without providing a reason, and you will receive a full refund, inclusive of the shipping cost to an EU destination.

    Beyond the initial 14 days, you may typically request a partial or potentially full refund. Our return policy spans 30 days, accounting for holidays. Please note that shipping costs will not be refunded in such cases after 14-day cooling-off period.

    If 30 days have passed since your purchase, regrettably, we cannot offer a refund or exchange.

    *To be eligible for a return, the item must be unused and in the same condition as received, including its original packaging.

    The seller will cover the cost of return postage only if the item is damaged, faulty, or doesn't match the listing description.

    For other reasons, the buyer is responsible for returning the product at their expense.
